3) Advertisement using an appeal to fear : a way politicians and advertisers manipulate people.

The following is a commercial of President Barack Obama during his the presidential elections, called What If. I believe this is an appeal to fear because his past history shows us how he's done many great things and that if you vote for him, your voting for change and hope. This ad came at a time where the Republican party aka former President Bush wasn't looking too good in the public eye for many reasons but seeing this ad made you want to vote for Obama because of his hope for change. He was a fresh, new look, younger senator who had lots of plans and ideas for improving and pushing America forward.
So let me know what you guys think of this or how its appealing fear to you or if you disagree with me.

ReplyDeleteI don't think this advertisment is using an appeal to fear because I don't see anything in the video that appeals to my fear. The video is only talking about why you should vote for obama because of his hope for change but it doesn't make you feel scared of why you shouldn't vote for him. For example, if the advertisement is showing a terrorist killing innocent and saying that if you vote for Obama, then crimes will decrease as innocent people will stopping dying. If you don’t vote for Obama, then be prepared for what is going to happen. As you can see, the guy with the gun appeals in fear in you which will manipulate you to vote for Obama because you will become scared and do not want to get killed by a terrorist.
