Strong verses valid arguments

Before I begin, I want to define the difference between a strong verses valid argument.


Strong Argument: An argument is strong if it is possible but unlikely for the premises to be true and the conclusion false.

Valid Argument: An argument in which it is impossible for the premises to be true and the conclusion false.

Here are some examples:

Kobe Bryant is a famous basketball player for the LA Lakers. The Lakers have won many championships. So Kobe Bryant is the best!
ANALYSIS: The argument is strong: Other people may have other opinions about the conclusion being false but there is good reason to believe the premises.

The Lakers worked really hard in finals against the Celtics. The Lakers beat the Celtics in game 6. Therefore the Lakers won the championship in game 7 against them.
ANALYSIS: The argument is valid: There is no possible way the premises could be true and the conclusion false at the same time.
